High School Volunteering Project

“Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant”

Project Outline:

  • High school students will be given an opportunity to serve in a leadership position in different areas of service in the church
  • The service period will be in one or more of three identified semesters:
    • Spring Semester: January 1 – April 30
    • Summer Semester: May 1 – August 31
    • Fall Semester: September 1 – December 31

Enrollment And Rules:

  • Registration will open on the 1st and close on the 15th of the month prior to the semester start date (e.g., registration for the positions for the Spring semester will open on December 1st, etc.)
  • The number of positions needed per service area will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Each applicant is allowed only one position per semester
  • Candidate should be a regular attendee of the Divine Liturgy and assigned Sunday School class (75% attendance rate required for each semester of volunteering; Sunday School attendance will be taken during food distribution time in CYC after Sunday liturgy)
  • Candidate should meet with his/her confession father at least once during the semester
  • Candidate should demonstrate Christian behavior inside and outside the church and not be involved in any immoral or inappropriate activity
  • Volunteers in each of the service areas will work under the guidance of the church coordinator in charge of that particular service. The volunteer's attendance will be reported by the coordinator in order to receive the credited hours for his/her service

Certification:

  • Volunteers who complete their semesters while meeting the requirements will be issued a signed certificate from the church denoting the leadership position occupied and the total number of volunteer hours completed per semester
